Founded in 1859, the not-for-profit American Dental Association is the nation’s largest dental association, representing more than 157,000 dentist members. Since then, the ADA has grown to become the leading source of oral health related information for dentists and their patients. The ADA is committed to its members and to the improvement of oral health for the public. The ADA’s vision is to be the recognized leader on oral health with its mission to help all members succeed.
The California Dental Association (CDA) is a community of dentists committed to enhancing the professional lives of our members—25,000 of the best and brightest dentistry has to offer. Together, we champion better oral health care for all Californians. It’s been nearly 150 years since a small group of dentists founded CDA. Since then we’ve grown to become the single largest membership in the American Dental Association and a constant trusted resource for California dentists and their patients.
Our member body of dental professionals — nearly 600 strong, 76% of all dentists in San Mateo County — share a common commitment to advancing the art and science of dentistry as well as the dental health of our community. SMCDS has been recognized by state and local governments for our deep concern and unselfish dedication to improving dental health among the needy children and elderly of our county.
